Mumbai Trans Harbour Link: India’s Longest Sea Bridge ‘Atal Setu’ In Mumbai Inaugurated By PM Modi

The inauguration of Atal Setu, also known as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), is a new architectural development in India. Today, all eyes would be on the inauguration of this longest sea bridge, sprawling at 22 km, covering 16.5 lengths over the sea, & 5.5 km length over the land. The total cost for the construction of this bridge is known to be around Rs 17,840 crore. It will benefit in shortening the distance between Mumbai to Navi Mumbai in 20 minutes, which took 2 hrs earlier.

The Atal Setu inauguration will occur on 12th January 2024 by the honourable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. It is an initiative by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The sea bridge will now be used for your daily commuting, & will be a pavement of 70,000 vehicles running on it. 

The bridge will be a beneficial factor in being a joining link from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai. This 6-lane highway measures 27 m in width, adding 2 emergency exit lanes, an edge strip, & crash barrier. This new MTHL bridge will now be known as the longest sea bridge in India & the 12th longest in the world. 

The bridge will commence from Sewri, South Mumbai, passing through Thane Creek North of Elephanta Island, & concluding at Chirle near Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka. The road from this longest sea bridge will connect the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in the east, whereas, in the west, it will be linked to an under-construction Coastal Road.

The Trans Harbour Link will be launched on 12th January 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
